( s1. INTRODUCTION ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: )
`~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~'~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~`

Hello! This is the second FAQ that I am publishing to GameFAQs (and to any
other sites whom have received my permission to use this FAQ). I have been
super enthusiastic about the new Pokemon Diamond and Pokemon Pearl games that
were released in Japan recently since the day they came out. I have been
working dilligently on trying to acquire as much information as possible about
the two games, and now, I have decided that it is time to work on writing a
good Walkthrough for the two games.

This task will be a very different one for me, seeing as the games are barely
out in Japan at the time of writing this walkthrough. Please understand that
most all names are going to change when the game hits the USA shores. I have
tried to translating everything to the best of my ability, but unfortunately I
know only limited Japanese, so I cannot guarentee the accuracy of any of my
translations. I will try to spell out the translations of things like Pokemon
and Town Names to help you pronounciate them better (ex., "Sono-oh Town" is
actually "So - no - o - Ta - u - n" in Japanese Katakana, but if I listed it
as "Sonoo Town", English-speakers would pronounce it as "So - New").

THIS IS NOT A SPOILER-FREE WALKTHROUGH! In fact, this Walkthrough will have as
many spoilers as possible! The game is only out in Japan for the time being,
so in reading this Walkthrough, you're probably spoiling the game for your
country's release of the game anyway. (:

You will not find any pictures (for obvious reasons) or stats (will be
released in a seperate guide) on the Pokemon in this guide.

For pictures of the new Pokemon, you can check out:
http://pokemon.marriland.com/diamond-pearl.php?page=pokepics

And for the time being, you can view each of the Pokemon's stats at:
http://pokemon.marriland.com/diamond-pearl.php?page=pokedex

I do intend to eventually either put the latter into a text-format guide,
but for now you will have to view it there. And pictures, obviously, can't
be placed in a text-based FAQ.

Special thanks to pika for allowing use of the sprites for my site.

With that being said, please do enjoy the Walkthrough I have written. I hope
it helps you out through the game, or, if you do not own the game and merely
wish to take a peek at what the game is all about, I hope it gives you a good
idea of what to expect when it is released outside of Japan!

( s2. VERSION HISTORY & FUTURE UPDATES ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: )
`~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~'~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~`
____________________________________________________________________________
(_ s2.1. Version History __________________________________________________)

Version 0.95 (11/8/06 - 460KB)
- Did some reorganizing of the different sections, now dedicating section
6. to Post-Game, section 7. to Optional Areas, section 8. to Useful
Lists, and the sections afterward have just been post-incremented by 2 to
reflect the new additions.
- Added many of the Post-Game events, covering sections 6.1. to 6.5. and
all subsections, except for 6.3. Still have a lot of Post-Game stuff to
write about, though...
- Most likely going to merge Post-Game and Optional Areas into one section
later on, since several of the Optional Areas are much, much more
interesting after completing the game and unlocking the National Dex,
however they aren't exactly Post-Game because you can access them early
on. Hmm, decisions, decisions...
- Added the Useful Lists section which has an easy to read listing of all
of the Held Items, Key Items, TMs/HMs, Poke Watch Applications, and
important places and people. Hopefully this will help answer everyone's
questions before they are asked, plus it saves you the time of having to
wade through the Walkthrough to find what you are looking for.
- Fixed a few typoes here and there.
- I feel so sad only adding .05 to the version number after adding almost
100KB of content. Ugh. I'm going to mark this as "complete" and make it
version 1.00 in the next update, where I cover the northeast island.

Version 0.90 (10/30/06 - 370KB)
- Covered sections 5.9.1. (Route 223) through 5.9.3. (The Pokemon League).
Doesn't seem like a lot, but it really was.
- Also added section 5.9.0. to list all of the optional areas you can
revisit now that you can use Waterfall.
- Added Route 210 to the list of locations that you can visit after you can
use Rock Slide (see section 5.8.0.).
- The Walkthrough now covers from the beginning of the game to the end! Not
going to mark it as complete just yet, though. I'm going to add all of
the Post-Game events first.
- Renamed section 2. to "Version History & Future Updates" so I can put all
of the updates I have planned for this Walkthrough in here as well.
- Added two more credits to section 9.
- Oops, I realized I forgot to update the version number in the last
update, ha ha ha, silly me, I knew that would happen eventually.

Version 0.80 (10/25/06 - 331KB)
- Covered sections 5.8.1. (Mio City) through 5.8.14. (Nagisa Gym). This
took close to forever due to all of the events that happen in this part
of the game.
- Added Cave of Doubt (Secret Area) to the Optional Areas (section 6.8.).
- Added a ASCII-rendition of the World Map to the Translation Guide (in
section 4.).
- Fixed numerous things throughout the Walkthrough based on information
that was either sent in via e-mail or checked on my Pearl version's
playthrough.
- Did some slight graphical updates on the Walkthrough, changing the
section headers and such to a new look.
- Added another site to the list of sites able to use this Walkthrough.
- Ran out of time to add more questions to the Frequently Asked Questions
section of this guide. Oh well, I'll try do that in the next update.
- Added two new bits to the Credits section.

Version 0.70 (10/18/06 - 262KB)
- Covered sections 5.7.1. (Tengan Mountain) through 5.7.6. (Kissaki Gym).
- Renamed "Royal Relic" to "Tengan Mountain" to help avoid confusion and
remain more consistant in the recognized names for things.
- Added Route 211 (West) to section 5.2. as 5.2.13., and reordered Hakutai
Gym as 5.2.14.
- Added a bit about the Ruin Maniac's Grotto in Route 214 (section 5.5.4.).

Version 0.60 (10/17/06 - 238KB)
- Covered sections 5.6.1. (Route 218) through 5.6.3. (Mio Gym).
- Added Steel Island to the Optional Areas (section 6.7.).
- Finally designed an AWESOME logo for the Walkthrough in ASCII! Woohoo!
- Fixed, like, one or two typoes.

Version 0.50 (10/16/06 - 216KB)
- Covered sections 5.5.1. (Nomose City) through 5.5.9. (Yosuga Gym). Also
covered all of the optional things you can do after you can use Surf in
section 5.6.0.
- Added Tatara Ironworks to the Optional Areas (section 6.6.).
- Added the location of some items, as well as Pokemon to catch to older
sections that I missed before.
- Fixed the location of the Move Relearner.
- Fixed a lot of typoes. I am ALWAYS getting Kotobuki and Kurogane City
mixed up. Argh!
- Also added ASCII for the Japanese "Yes" and "No" to the Translation
section.
- Decided to up the version number a whole .2 points instead of .1 due to
the fact that I've gotta be at least half way through, plus a lot of
extra areas are covered. 0.40 just didn't seem to do it justice.

Version 0.30 (10/15/06 - 166KB)
- Covered sections 5.4.1. (Tobari City) through 5.4.5. (Nomose Gym).
- Replaced section 5.A. with 5.4., since that is where you're supposed to
go (as I thought). The Pokemon Mansion and Proud Garden sections have
been moved to the Optional Areas (section 6.4.).
- Added the Zui Ruins, Pokemon Mansion and Proud Garden, and the Safari
Zone to the Optional Areas.
- Included where to get the Raising Checker Poke Watch Application in the
Zui Town section, as a note. (You get it after hatching 5 Eggs.)
- Fixed a few more typoes.
- Added another Frequently Asked Question.

Version 0.20 (10/11/06 - 147KB)
- Covered sections 5.3.10. (Lost Tower) through 5.3.15. (Tobari Gym).
- I can't believe it took me two days just to get from one town to another.
I guess it makes sense seeing as I'm a total information geek and have to
explore every single area before I progress to the next one. I mean, my
play time was at 27:00+ when I got my third badge, ugh! Enough ranting!
- Fixed Hyouta's gender... Sorry, but he looked like a girl. Now he's just
one of many feminine men in Pokemon... with a hardhat!
- Updated a few things earlier in the FAQ. Also changed 5.3.10. from Zui
Town to the Lost Tower and changed Zui Town to 5.3.11., because you can
go to the Tower that early and you might as well pick up HM04 while you
are in the area rather than forget later.
- Added another question to the Frequently Asked Questions.

Version 0.13 (10/9/06 - 111KB)
- Covered sections 5.3.1 (Hakutai City) through 5.3.9 (Route 209).
- Added the Optional Areas section along with the optional areas "Forest
Manor" and "Cave of Doubt", both of which seem to be optional at this
point.
- Fixed a few minor errors throughout the guide. (I mean, come on, it said
that Version 0.10 was made in 10/4/05, haha! My bad!)
- Added a link to the pictures and Pokedex, since a lot of people want to
see that stuff anyway.
- Added some commonly asked questions to the Frequently Asked Questions
section.
- Allowed two new sites usage of using this FAQ.

Version 0.10 (10/7/06)
- Initial release of the Walkthrough. Setting version # at 0.10 since I am,
by my estimations, roughly 10% through writing the Walkthrough part.
- Only the Walkthrough is available for the time being. Other sections will
follow in later releases.
- Covered sections 5.1.1 (Futaba Town) through 5.2.13 (Hakutai City Gym).
____________________________________________________________________________
(_ s2.2. Future Updates ___________________________________________________)

These are some of the plans I have for this Walkthrough. I will list each idea
I have, as well as a basic idea of when I will work on each listed section.

.........................................................
.: List of all Shinou Pokemon & where to catch/see them :.
::.......................................................::
: Eventually, I want to compile a list of the where you :
: can see every Pokemon in the game to help readers :
: complete their Shinou Pokedex so they can use the Pal :
: Park. It will show a list of where you can see each of :
: the Pokemon and will also show where you can obtain :
: each of them as well. :
: :
: This update can be made at any time, and will be made :
: when I have the time to do so. :
:.........................................................:

.........................................................
.: Coverage of all Post-Game events and Optional Areas :.
::.......................................................::
: This is probably priority number one right now. I want :
: to cover everything there is to do after beating the :
: game and unlocking the National Dex, because there :
: really is a lot to do. :
: :
: This update is the one I am currently working on, :
: although I may still include other updates as I am :
: doing this one. :

( s4. TRANSLATION GUIDE :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: )
`~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~'~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~`

I am assuming that you already know how to play the Pokemon Games (otherwise,
you probably would not have bought this game), so I am not going to go into
explaining the basic game controls. I will only explain any changes made to
game controls, as well as provide a translation of the main menus you will
need to familliarize yourself with.

A button - No changes; still an "Accept" / "Action" key.
B button - No changes; still a "Cancel" / "Back" key; can also hold it in
to run once you have the Running Shoes.
Y button - Use SET item (instead of Select).
X button - Bring up the Menu (instead of Start).
L button - Change Box to the left in the PC
R button - Change Box to the right in the PC

Also, remember, as a general rules, "YES" will always be on top of any boxes
where there are just two options. It has two Japanese characters in it, while
"NO" has three (the first two characters are identical). Remember that well.

The following is an ASCII representation of YES in Japanese:

## ## ##
## ######## ## ##
## ## ## ##
## ## ## ##
## ###### ##
## ## ## # ## ##
## #### ###

And this is an ASCII representation of NO in Japanese:

## ## ###
## ## ## ## ####
## ## ## ## ##########
## ## ## ## ##
## ## ##
## ## ## ## ## #
### ### ## ###

The fourth screen just shows your Pokemon's moves, type of each move, and how
much PP the move has left. It doesn't need to be covered, because it's all
pretty much self-explanitory.

In your Bag, when you press A on an item, the following options will usually
be available to you:
____________
USE
GIVE
TRASH
CANCEL

On items that can't be used, the first option will be removed. Berries have
the option to Check Tag, and any Key Items can be Set with the second option
that appears.
____________________________________________________________________________
(_ s4.6. Settings _________________________________________________________)

The first line in Settings is the Message Speed. From left to right, the
options are FAST, NORMAL, and SLOW.

The second line is for Animations. The first option is "On", the second is
"Off".

The third line is for replacement Pokemon rules, like when your opponent's
Pokemon faints and is about to send out another one. If this is set to the
first option, you will have the option of switching Pokemon at that time; if
it's set to the second option, you will not be able to switch between Pokemon.

The fourth line is Sound Options. Either STEREO or MONAURAL.

The fifth line is Button Mode. You can set it to either NORMAL, START = X
(which makes the Start Button bring up the Menu), or L = A (which makes the L
button act as the A button).

The second-to-last line is Window Type, which can be set to one of 20
different styles by pressing Left or Right.

And lastly, there's the cancel line, which takes you out of the Settings Menu.

( s5. WALKTHROUGH :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: )
`~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~'~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~`
____________________________________________________________________________
(_ s5.0.0. Getting Started ________________________________________________)

At the beginning of a new game, you will be greeted by Professor Nanatamado.
He will then let you ask him questions about the game controls, but since it
is all in Japanese, you will probably just want to select the third option
down. If you do find yourself in one of the first two options, keep in mind
that whenever it shows the red DS symbol inside of the text on-screen, you
will need to (or, often times, simply have the option to) use the touch screen
to make a selection.

He will then explain to you about Pokemon, and will instruct you to open a
Poke Ball. A Poke Ball will appear on the touch screen. Simply touch the
center of it, and a Munchlax will pop out. After putting the Munchlax away,
you will be able to choose whether to play as a Male or Female character. Just
highlight the one you want to play as and press A. It makes no significant
impact on the gameplay and is merely personal preference (to my knowledge).
(For the sake of this Walkthrough, I am going to assume that you are playing
as a Male character.) You will then be prompted to enter a name, which can be
up to 5 letters, symbols, or Japanese Hiragana/Katakana in length.

After entering your name, your "rival" will be shown on screen and you will be
prompted to give him a name as well. Same rules apply, except there are
different default names for him. For the sake of this walkthough, I am going
to refer to him as Rival. Yeah, pretty original nickname for him, huh?

You will then be shrunk into the game, and your journey will begin.

____________________________________________________________________________
(_ s5.1.1. Futaba Town ____________________________________________________)

There will be a news article on TV about a Red Gyarados in some mountain. But
the news article will then end, and you will have control over your character.
Notice the Wii in your room. Game Freak and Nintendo are such teases! Proceed
to head down the stairs where you will be greeted by your Mother. She will
instruct you to go and see Rival. On your way out, she'll say something else.
Leave the house and make your way to the northeastern-most house and Rival
will pop out of the door. He'll start to run off, but must have forgotten
something as he heads back inside. Go in after him, heading up to the second
floor, and he'll leave.

Go north, up to Route 201, and you'll find Rival. He'll mention something
about the Red Gyarados on TV and will follow you. Take him over to the west
(you can't go east yet), in to the forest. If you want to save before picking
your starter Pokemon (for trying to get a certain gender, positive stats,
shiny, etc), do so before entering the forest.

Inside of the forest, by the lake, you will see Professor Nanakamado and
Hikari. After some dialogue between them, they'll notice the two of you, and
will then leave. However, the Professor forgot his suitcase, as you and Rival
quickly discover. As you approach it, though, you are attacked by some wild
Pokemon!

Now is the time that you'll be able to choose your Starting Pokemon, so choose
wisely!

.----------------------------.
NAETORU (Turtle) GRASS
'--.-------------------------`._________________________________
Naetoru, the Turtle Pokemon, is a pretty solid choice. It
has great Defense and Attack, although it is pretty slow.
Fortunately, it will be able to take hits throughout the
game, which is a good thing. It learns Razor Leaf pretty
early on, too, giving it a nice offensive attack. Later
on, Naetoru will eventually evolve into Hayashigame,
followed by Dodaitosu, which is Grass / Ground and capable
of unleashing Earthquake.
.----------------------------.__________________________________
HIKOZARU (Monkey) FIRE
'--.-------------------------`._________________________________
Hikozaru, the Monkey Pokemon, is all about doing damage.
It learns a wide variety of various Physical-based attacks
and it has the Attack stat to use them fairly well.
Although it may have difficulty with the first Gym, it
will prove to be a strong fighter during the rest of your
journey. When Hikozaru evolves into Moukazaru at Level 14,
it will become part Fighting-type as well and will start
learning Fighting-type moves to utilize its second type.
Its final form, Goukazaru, is also part Fighting-type, and
is also quite fast to boot.
.----------------------------.__________________________________
POCCHAMA (Penguin) WATER
'--.-------------------------`._________________________________
Pocchama, the Penguin Pokemon, is, unfortunately, not that
great early on in the game. It doesn't learn any strong
moves until Bubblebeam, which is Level 24 at it's second
stage. However, its forms have good Special Attack, and
its final Evolution, Enparuto, is part Metal-type, making
it resistant to most any attacks.
____________________________________________________________

You will have to fight against a Level 2 Mukkuru. Just keep using your
Pokemon's first attack and you will win. Rival will take the Pokemon that you
are weak to.

Afterward, Hikari will return and take back the suitcase. Leave the forest,
and then you and Rival will run into Hikari and the Professor again. He will
mention something about the two Pokemon that are missing, but will then leave
and Hikari will follow. You will then be taken back home, and your Mother will
tell you to go to Masago Town, followed by giving you the Running Shoes. Now
you can hold in B while moving to run, woohoo!
____________________________________________________________________________
(_ s5.1.2. Route 201 ______________________________________________________)

Return to Route 201, although this time you can actually proceed east, through
the tall grass. Do so, and make your way east bound until you get to Masago
Town. I would also recommend fighting 2 or 3 battles to get up to Level 6. If
your HP gets below 10, you should return back to your house and speak with
your Mother to heal your Pokemon.
____________________________________________________________________________
(_ s5.1.3. Masago Town ____________________________________________________)

Upon arriving in Masago Town, Hikari will be waiting for you there, and she
will lead you to the Professor's Lab. Rival will then walk out just then and
will run off. Hikari will take you inside. After a bit of scolding, the
Professor will decide to give you the Pokemon you chose as a Present. You can
then give it a nickname, if you desire. Eventually, he will ask you if you
want to travel throughout Shinou and catalog information on the different
Pokemon in it. Say yes, and you will receive the Pokedex. After some more
dialogue, Hikari will receive the remaining starter Pokemon.

Leave the building, and then Hikari will take you around the town, showing you
the different features (such as the Pokemon Center and Poke Mart). She'll then
head north, up to Route 202, and won't let you pass.

Return back to your house and speak with your Mother. She'll heal your
Pokemon, and will then give you the Note. Lots more dialgoue here, followed by
Rival's mother walking in, eventually giving you another key item (Package).
She will tell you to go to Kotobuki City to find Rival or something.

Nintendo has done it again! Just more than a year after the release of Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire, it will be releasing a remake of Pokemon Red and Green (Blue in the US) on the 29th of January in Japan. The game, Pokemon Fire Red/Leaf Green might be more than just a mere remake though. There will be some extra features, and definitely improved graphics and gameplay. Older fans will certainly relish the experience of playing Pokemon Red and Green once again. Nostalgia which is what this game, is all about.
Below are the new features that could be found in this game:
- New advanced Graphics- Compability with Colloseum- Compability with Ru/Sa- The First GBA game to support Nintendo new wireless device- New Female Trainer- New Islands- Various Mini Games- 2 on 2 battles (not really new, since it's in Ru/Sa)- Voice Checker- Pokemon learns different moves- Move tutors

Battle Frontier- Catching pokemon
When you first explore the battle frontier, go to the BATTLE PALACE, and go to the southwest corner. SURF to the other side, and you will first see a little old lady.
continue down the path south of the lady until you notice a strange tree that moves when you press A.
This is a sudowoodo, origianlly found in the GSC versions.
To battle it, use the WAILMER PAIL on it. You have only one chance to catch it, so don't screw it up.

After that, you can SURF on the water that the Sudowoodo was blocking. SURF down the WATERFALL, and keep surfing left (there are no fish or anything in the water, so don't bother.)

After a while, you will surf to a cave known as the ARTISTAN CAVE. Go inside, and as you explore the cave, you will find many stat items in the boulders (carbos, etc.) The only pokemon in this cave is SMEARGLE. (hence, the ARTISTAN cave.) The SMEARGLE are generally level 41 to 50. They can only use sketch once before they start struggling.

Mirage Island
Mirage Island is an invisble Island located on Route 130. Most of the time it will be invisible but on rare cases, the island will be visible. To find out if the island is there or not, go to Pacifidlog Town and talk to the old man in the bottom right house looking out the window. He will tell you wheter the island is there or not. Pokerus
This is a helpfull virus in the game. This virus can improve all of your stat points when you grow levels. If your pokemon has pokerus and it's in your party it will spread to your other pokemon. But these effects are temporary unless you put the infected pokemon in your PC. In order to get it, you need A LOT of luck. You need to find a wild pokemon with pokerus. You will know it has pokerus because it will be it's status condition. After you catch it, to make sure it really has pokerus go to any pokemon center and the nurse will say that it is infected with pokerus.

Raising weak pokemon easier
Just put the weak pokemon in the first slot. When a battle starts just switch out that pokemon right away. After the battle the pokemon will recieve half of the exp. points.

Shedinja
To get Shedinja, you must first catch a Nincada, and have an empty space in your party. People say you need a Pokeball for it, but you do NOT. Shedinja copies the ball the Nincada was caught in.
Anyways, with one empty space in your party, level up Nincada to level 20. It will evolve into Ninjask. When you check your party, you will see Shedinja sitting in the final slot, along with the Ninjask and 4 other Pokemon.

That is how to catch Shedinja.

Static's secondary effect
If you have a pokemon with the Static ability in the front of your party, it increases the chance of finding a wild electric type pokemon. This is EXTREMELY useful for finding rare electric types, like Pikachu in the Safari Zone.

Suction cups/Sticky hold's second ability
If a poke'mon in your party has suction cups/sticky hold as an ability, then you will have an easier time fishing for wild poke'mon.

Swarm's second ability
The Pokemon ability Swarm has 2 effects. It raises Bug-type attacks by 150% when the user is weak, and, new to Emerald, it makes pokemon cry in the background more often. For example, in caves outside of battle, you will hear a Pokemon screech more often.

Synchronize's second ability
If you have a poke'mon with synchronize as an ability, you will encounter more poke'mon with the same nature as the poke'mon with sychronize. Note that the poke'mon with this ability must be in the front of your party.

Unlimited Safari Zone Steps
Pay 500 to go to the Safari Zone. Go to a grass patch. Stay in the patch and don't walk. Just press the arrow buttons softly like a 90 degree angle and you might catch a rare pokemon without wasting your 500 steps!

====================1. Introduction====================Hello my name is Martin Kaca. I am writing this guide because of all of the people wondering where everyone’s friend area is and how to unlock them. This guide will tell you how to unlock all of the Friend Areas and what pokémon belong in each of those areas. This is my first guide so I hope you like it.
====================2. How to Unlock Friend Areas====================Friend Areas are unlocked five different ways. The first way is to buy them from Wigglytuff. A lot of the friend Areas that you can buy from Wigglytuff do not become available for purchase until you complete the main story mode. The second way is from Bulletin Board job rewards. They are mostly random missions that give you a friend area for completing it. The third way is recruiting certain bosses. Most legendary pokémon will give you their Friend Area when you befriend them. The forth way is to experience story events. In the main story line you will receive a couple areas automatically. The final way is automatic and is the one for your starter and partner.
